FAQS

Important Info Prior to Your Event

What is your cancellation policy?

If something comes up, no problem! I know life with children can be unpredictable. We can reschedule your event to a new date up to 48 hours before the event. Within 48 hours of your event date, we are not able to accommodate any changes. If you fully cancel your event before the scheduled date, we will refund you 50% of your total paid amount. Payment is non-refundable for day-of cancellations (this includes no call, no show policy).

What if I want to reserve something different from your general booking options?

If you have more people in your party than the allowable number per booking, please contact us and we can try to accommodate for you.  If you have an event type other than what is listed on our bookings page, we can also discuss how to best accommodate it for you.

What happens if there is bad weather?

As you know, Colorado weather can be unpredictable....sunny & beautiful one minute and then dark with pelting corn snow the next. If a random afternoon rain shower moves in, we can stay dry under the 11x13ft picnic pavilion. If it has been raining for days, our dirt road gets quite muddy and impassable; so we will call to reschedule your event. Make sure to inform the rest of your party though!

How do I find Happy Tails Farm?

Google Maps will take you to the wrong location (I've tried to fix this a million times); so please use Mapquest! We are perfectly halfway between Saguache & Villa Grove, CO on the west side of Hwy 285.  If heading south on Hwy 285, go about 3 miles past the Hwy 17 & 285 split.  Turn R on Russel Rd (a dirt road with a cattle guard). Stay straight for quite awhile (the road will curve naturally to the right). After the curve, go past 2 property gates (on your left side). Before the 3rd property gate, turn R on to Terry Ave (at the arrow sign). Happy Tails Farm is at the end of this road. 27621 is on the front gate with big posts. Head up the long driveway and park perpendicular to the old train car on your left (you can't miss it!).  You cannot see the farm from the road as we are tucked in the hills (great for blocking wind!) so please do not fear if you can't see us until up the driveway.

What should we bring to our event?

It depends on your event type! For birthday parties, you are welcome to bring whatever snacks/dessert you like as well as kid-friendly beverages (my apologies but no alcohol on premises please). We will provide plates & silverware.

Remember that farms have animals and animals poop, so wear footwear you do not mind getting dirty. Sunscreen is always a great idea!

Can we take pictures?

Yes! We love to see smiling faces. Be sure to tag us: #happytailsfarm

How do I pay for my event?

Booking is simple and we'll help you through every step! Schedule your event through our booking page or submit the details of your event by email, confirm your date and details over the phone, and then pay using any major credit card or Venmo (2% processing fee applies for Venmo & credit cards). We take payment in full to finalize your booking and will walk through all of the details before taking payment. Please let us know if your organization has a required payment method.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately all pets need to stay at home. We don't want to cause extra stress for the animals here.

Are there any places close by to spend the night?

Joyful Journey Hot Springs is just up the road from us and we highly recommend them! They have camp sites, cabins or yurts, and hotel rooms available. Along with your stay there, you get to soak in their amazing hot springs pools.

Directions: If you use GPS, Mapquest is the only one that will get you here correctly (27621 Terry Ave, Moffat, CO 81143). Please do not turn into any neighbor's driveways! If you do not see a Happy Tails Farm sign at the gate, you're not at the right place.

From the North: Head South on Hwy 285 from Salida. Go through Villa Grove and continue as if headed to the town of Saguache. Before mile marker 98 on your right hand side (west), you will see a sign on a fence that reads “Blackburn Rd and Russel Rd”, turn right. The road will fork. Stay to the right (follow the arrow sign). Go about 1.7 miles (the road will take you towards the mountains and naturally turn to the right). At 1.7 miles, take a right on the dirt road (again there will be an arrow sign). Happy Tails Farm is at the end of the road. Come on in through the gate and up the long driveway. Parking is perpendicular next to the wooden train car (there will be a parking sign). Wait in the parking area and your host, Melissa, will greet you and bring you inside the fenced in animal area.

From the South:  Head north on Hwy 285 through Saguache (or come up Hwy 17 through Moffat and connect into Hwy 285). Follow the same directions as above, turning onto Russel Rd off Hwy 285 between mile marker 98 & 97.
